Our 2025 Club Finals took place in sweltering heat on 29th June. Despite this, spectators enjoyed a full day of entertaining tennis. Special mention to:
Mihai Bradu – Mihai won the Men’s Singles title for the first time and successfully defended his Men’s Doubles title. Mihai beat Charlie Clements 6-4 6-3 in the singles final.
Alexis Chastang – Alexis, partnering Mihai for the 2nd time, won the Men’s Doubles title for his fifth successive men’s doubles title. Alexis and Mihai beat Tom Pullen and Charlie Clements 6-4 7-6 in a highly entertaining match. Alexis also won the Mixed Doubles event alongside his mother Sharon.
Robert Hirmer – Robert won three titles in one day. He and Carol Bye won the Mixed Vets 45+ event in the morning, he also won the Men’s Doubles 45+ event in the afternoon. Sandwiched between those finals was a 2-hour epic Men’s Singles 45+ match against John Shepherd that Robert won on a championship tie-break 6-2 3-6 10-6.
Ava Pollard – Ava won both the girls 8U and 9U events which took place during the day across the indoor and new outdoor courts.
Finally, thanks to Fred de Souza for manning the barbecue; and to those who helped with the selling of cakes and drinks. All profits go towards the pavilion refurbishment.
