Meet the Coaches

Simon played competitively at university in South Carolina and on the satellite circuit throughout Europe & North America. He has represented the Kent Over 35 team that won the National Championships in 2007. He has travelled as a touring coach for the IT and has been a Kent County Coach for the U10 and U12 Girls’ Kent team. In 2016, Simon won ‘Kent Coach of the Year’ and in 2019 won ‘Kent Performance Coach of the Year’. He went on to finish ‘Runner-Up’ as British National Performance Coach of the Year in 2019. In 2020 Simon was appointed Vice-Captain for the Great Britain U14 boy’s team at the European Winter Cup in Italy and qualified as an accredited mentor with the European Mentor and Coaching Council (EMCC). Simon is passionate about helping all players juniors and adults, maximise their fullest potential.

Arjun enjoys working with players of all abilities and ages, wherever they are in their tennis journey, from complete beginners to those looking to play more competitively. He also works on his own game and represents CTC in club league matches.

Charlie has been competing in tennis since the age of 8 and was a finalist in the Kent County Championship 18U Boys Doubles. He was also part of the 18U County Training Squad. In 2023, he began coaching at CTA while completing a Sports Coaching Apprenticeship, during which he achieved his LTA Levels 1,2, and 3 qualifications and became an LTA Referee. In 2024, Charlie was honoured with the prestigious “Rising Star of the Year” award at the Kent Tennis Awards. He now contributes as an assistant in the 8U County Training, gaining valuable coaching experience. Dedicated to player development, Charlie strives to help players improve their skills and achieve their full potential.

Zavier is a well established Level 2 instructor. He started here at the club when he was 12 and quickly got into assisting with coaching sessions, competitions, and holiday camps at 13. He now helps to run these events and is very passionate about creating a welcoming environment where players can build positive relationships through tennis.

Christina is currently completing her Level 2 LTA instructor Course. She currently helps to facilitate the walking tennis program and has an interest in making tennis accessible for all those who want to play. Going forward, Christina hopes to develop her knowledge and skills in disability tennis and is currently working on establishing a learning disability tennis program. Mini red and tots tennis is her current focus area, and she’s passionate about inspiring a lifelong love of the sport.

Adam has been ranked as high as 6 in the UK in singles and has won 3 national doubles titles in Learning Disability tennis. He has also represented Great Britain at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in 2023, where he got a Gold Medal in Mixed Doubles. He is also a part of the Special Olympics Great Britain Athlete Leadership Team. Adam is passionate about helping people improve whilst enjoying themselves. He is passionate about making tennis accessible and inclusive to all.

Ethan has played tennis for 13 years and has learnt skills and techniques that help players develop fundamental skills. Ethan is keen to help all players of any ability to reach the top level they can. Developing his own skills to make coaching more beneficial and enjoyable for all players.

Nick is the Head Coach of our Club programme, overseeing juniors and adults from beginners to club level competitors. He has worked at Canterbury Tennis Club since 2012 and has a passion for creating a club environment that is welcoming and caters for players of all levels. He also manages our schools and competition programmes. Any questions about competitions, he’s your man.

Greg is passionate about helping children develop key fundamental skills whilst creating an environment that can really increase the players’ love for the sport. Greg has a real passion for teaching doubles tactics.

Simon has been playing and coaching tennis from the age of 16, working at Faversham before moving to Canterbury. He has run Visually Impaired, SEN, and many different club sessions in the past, and has a passion for working with players of all ages and abilities, with a particular focus on the performance side of tennis.

Will helped develop mini tennis in India for 18 months, and as well as being an important part of our team, he is also the Captain of the Kent County under 12 Team. Will is passionate about developing athletes to improve their performance and loves training hard to improve his game!

Over the past 20 years, Keith has competed at a high level in England and France, he has also organised several tennis trips to Gravelines T.C. in Northern France. He loves helping players understand that with maximum effort, they can maximise their fullest potential.

Tom splits his time between Canterbury and Deal as well as coaching the Canterbury Christ Church University team. He has played to a high level, culminating in captaining the University of Chichester Men’s first team. Tom competes regularly for the CTC first team, winning the Kent Division 1 summer and winter titles in the same season. Tom is passionate about helping others reach their potential.

Tom has been coaching since 2009 and works with juniors from beginner up to National level. Tom mainly works with juniors who are looking to go on the competitive journey and is passionate at helping players reach their potential. Tom was voted Kent Performance coach of the year in 2022 and is the lead coach for Kent 8 & under and 9 & under teams, along with being the 12 & under girls’ county coach. Tom has been a captain for 6 national winning Kent County teams. Tom is also the head coach at Wye Tennis Club and is heavily involved in helping improve tennis in East Kent.

Jon is a lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University and the Head Coach of the University’s men’s and women’s teams. He plays an important role in helping coach our mini tennis players and is a keen student of the game himself
