Our 2026 Club Finals took place on Sunday 5 th July and showcased some brilliant tennis. The day included junior finals from 8&U to 18&U, men’s and women’s open finals, and senior finals from 45+ to 60+. Academy graduates Ewan Grieve (21) and Mihai Bradu (19) battled it out for the Men’s Singles title with the 2024 winner Ewan beating defending champion Mihai 6-4 6-2.
Mihai and partner Alexis Chastang (21) won the Men’s Doubles title for the third consecutive year. This was Alexis’ sixth successive men’s doubles title. Alexis and Mihai beat club coaches Tom Pullen and Will Carnegie 6-3 7-5 in a highly entertaining match.
Ella Yu (20) was crowned Women’s champion beating Robyn Lawson (18) 6-4 6-1. Ella and Robyn teamed up to win the Ladies Doubles title beating mother-and-daughter pairing Antoinette Chastang Cooper and Sharon Chastang 6-3 5-7 10-5.
Ella’s successful day started with a Mixed Doubles win with Mihai beating Becky Wyatt and Robert Hirmer 6-3 6-3. Robert went on to play two more matches in the same day winning the Men’s Singles 45+ event against Ray Jordan, and the Men’s 45+ Doubles with Kartik Bhudia against James de Sausmarez and Andy Loft.
Thanks go to all those members who helped tidy the grounds and turned the mid-renovation pavilion from a building site to a catering space. Thanks to Fred de Souza for manning the barbecue; to Sharon Chastang for baking the memorable cakes; and to all those who helped with the selling of cakes and drinks.
